Intro:
The Soundslates platform offers ratings possibilities to users for various cases in which users interact with each other, this document presents an overview of the ratings concept.
1 Main User ratings V1
1.1 System
Every user has 5 different ratings criteria: 1 overall and 4 detailed ratings
- Music skills: giving an idea of the music abilities of the user
- Sound quality: gives hint about the quality of the sound material
- Deadlines: gives hint about ability of the user to meet deadlines, and responsiveness in projects
- Price/quality ratio: gives and idea about how expansive a user is VS the quality of the work delivered
- Overall star rating: this rating is the average of all 4 ratings criteria, and gives a hint about the general reputation of a user
1.2 Calculations:
- Every criteria can be rated from 1 to 5
- the average of the 4 detailed ratings give the overall rating
1.3 Ratings actions:
The places where users can be rated are the following:
- After a job project has been completed
- After a collab project has been completed
The rating action is available at the closing project step for the admin.
Once the project is closed, members have the possibility to rate each other.
1.4 Rating displaying:
The ratings are displayed on the following modules:
- User profile page
- Musicians page
2. Extensions for V2.0
The platform has been re-shaped, which implies changes in the rating concept, below are the detailed changes.
2.1 Removal of price criteria:
The criteria "price/quality ratio" needs to be removed from the rating system
- the overall average is now calculated from the 3 remaining detailed ratings
- the price rating must be removed from the profile/rating popup
2.2 Soundlibrary ratings:
The sound library available in the client app will now come into the rating system.
When a file is shared, and other users rate this file, the rating should be saved as user rating but also be incorporated into the ratings of the files creator.
New concepts:
Public file rating:
The average of all ratings for a file, it is displayed by default if there is not personal rating (by user)
User personal rating:
The note given by a single user to a file, this rating overtakes the public rating permanently
Creator rating:
The user rating of the file creator, this appears on the user's profile
It is the average of all public file ratings owned by a user, is going into the "Sound quality" rating
- each rating of the file is added to the creator's ratings for the categories: musical skills/ sound quality
- the average of all ratings for a files becomes the default file's public rating (which can be seen by users that didn't rated the file)
- When a user a rated a file, its rating overtake the public rating
To define:
- if the creator rating is the average of all files rating, or the average of all public ratings of his files (public rating is already an average)
2.3 Open Source Projects ratings: (OSPR)
When user pull an OSP, they can rate this project which is also incorporated into the creator's ratings.
Concepts are the same as for the Sound library:
- Public file rating
- User personal rating
- Creator rating
The interactions between the public, user and creator ratings are the same as for the Sound library.
The rating action can be done in the client app, on the browse tab, where a rating component has been implemented on OSP's info panel.
