To discuss:

we should discuss to find out what is the best solution to update the software, so far i see the following 2:
  • displaying a notification and a change log that the app gets from the server when an new version of the software is available
  • auto-updating the software, so that it gets automatically to the newest version when being restarted

Finalize sequence:
  • the update mechanism should occur before that the login panel is displayed 
  • login panel is displayed only after that the update step is passed, e.g if user decide to skip the update 

Finalize datas and process:
  • make sure the update is displayed only when there is a proper new version on the server
